You Can Still Be Free

Cool breeze and autumn leaves, slow motion daylight
A lone pair of watchful eyes, oversee the living…

As she watched the crowds rush by in anticipation of Christmas, Angel felt the usual grinding pain ripple through her body. She closed her eyes and waited for the feeling to pass.
When she opened her emerald green eyes again, she fell back into the usual habit of scanning the crowds of people almost flying by her. She couldn’t help but smile as small children passed her with their parents, especially since she would never be able to have any of her own.
Angel mentally slapped herself, and tried to concentrate on the task at hand, but seeing everyone so happy made it much more difficult than usual.
She finally gave up, and left to search somewhere else where there wouldn’t be as many people.

  Feel the presence all around,
The tortured soul, a wound unhealing…

As Angel walked along the streets, she glanced in windows where the curtains were still open. The families were all happy, kids running around, houses decorated with lights.
This all contrasted with the feelings living inside Angel on a permanent basis - despair, anger, guilt, fear - never one without the other.
Once again, Angel felt the grinding pain in her abdomen, letting her know that she should stop thinking, which Angel was beginning to agree with. Maybe if she stopped thinking, she wouldn’t feel.

No regrets or promises, the past is gone,
But you can still be free…

Angel stopped, and looked towards the other side of the road. Just stood watching her was a man. She figured this was her opportunity and began to walk towards him. As she got closer, he backed further into the shadows, all the while watching her.
When she was within a few feet of this man, but before she managed to catch a clear look at him, he turned around and ran. At first, Angel decided that this would be no problem, since she could outrun any human. She only realised that something was wrong when she realised that he was able to stay a few metres ahead of her.
She forgot about her earlier intentions and tried to keep up with this mysterious man through curiosity. Angel was now running as fast as she could and was able to catch glimpses of his face.

If time will set you free.
Time now to spread your wings
To take to flight, the life endeavour…

Angel was now running so fast that the landscape passing by her became a blur, the only thing she could see clearly was this mans face whenever he turned around. The first thing she saw was a pair of large, angelic, blue eyes, followed by short black hair. Angel had put all her concentration onto keeping up with this man, and forgotten about all her previous thoughts and feelings, she had even outrun the grinding pain in her stomach.

Aim for the burning sun, you’re trapped inside
But you can still be free, if time will set you free
But it’s a long, long way to go…

After what seemed like years of running in a straight line, this man turned a corner and disappeared into the shadows.
Angel followed this man into the shadows.
She suddenly felt blind, the darkness was so complete, she began to run around looking for the way that she entered, but it was nowhere to be found.

Keep moving way up high, you see the light
It shines forever, sail through the crimson skies..

Angel froze in terror as the darkness around her began to turn the colour of blood, and as she looked up she realised that she could see the moon and that it was shining brighter as the complete darkness began to disappear…

The purest light, the light that sets you free
If time will set you free…

As the moon began to get brighter, Angel had to shield her eyes, so she looked away, and she saw the man stood in front of her.
With him stood another man, who was a complete opposite in looks. Where as the first man had black hair, dazzling blue eyes, and porcelain skin, the second man had blond hair in messy curtains over his face, emerald green eyes and tanned skin.
Watching them, Angel forgot about everything that had been bothering her ever since the day she had been changed.

Sail through the wind and rain tonight,
  You’re free to fly tonight,
And you can still be free, if time will set you free…

Both of the men stared at her, showing mild amusement. Angel couldn’t help but stare back, as though they had her under a spell.
Even when she felt their minds enter hers, she couldn’t do anything, she gradually began to lose her eyesight, it was then she realised that this was all a trick and that these two men had the same intentions for her as she had had for the dark - haired one earlier. She tried to fight against it, but by this time they had overpowered her, and everything went black…

And go higher than the mountain tops,
And go high like the wind don’t stop,
  And go high…

Angel opened her eyes, to the purest, brightest light, which at first she thought was sunlight, so she tried to cover herself up, until she realised that it wasn’t burning.
She felt herself being lifted up slowly. She turned around to look down, and she saw the body of a young girl, with copper red hair and pale, freckled skin. As she looked she realised that there were two men, one stood at each side of the girl. Both looking up at her.
Angel felt that she was missing something, but she couldn’t remember what it was, and the light was drawing her concentration away, so she turned around and followed it.

Free to fly tonight, free to fly tonight…
