Close My Eyes

The day passed her by as it always did - in a blur. Everything she was supposed to have done she done, and as was her fashion they were done to perfection.
But these things she put no effort or strength into, her days spent on autopilot, her body responding as it should, but without her conscious brain being a part of it.
For days, the daylight waking hours meant nothing to her, merely a portal through which she could reach the nights, where she could sleep.
A small smile graced her lips as she thought of sleep, and the line "Sleep perchance to dream" flitted across her mind.
For what dreams she did have.....

"Anytime I need to see your face
I just close my eyes
And I am taken to a place..."

Walking along the shoreline, holding hands with the dark-haired angel of her dreams. She never felt as much at peace as she did with him. He was the balm to ease the pains of life, the one for whom she lived.
Coming to a stop she turned to face him, tracing the contours of his face with her eyes, followed by her fingers. First running her hands through his short dark hair, revelling in the freshly-washed smell of it, following it down and brushing her hands across his high forehead, butterfly kisses on the pale skin.
Her fingers trailed down his cheeks, down to his chin, cupping his face in her hands. Silently he stood, for he knew how much it meant to her to do this, to just smell him, to touch him.
Her thumbs brushed across his lips, causing a shiver to run through his body and a moan to escape those beautiful lips. Almost as a reflex, he closed his eyes cutting off those blue pools.
Soundlessly she willed him to open his eyes again, so she could drown herself in them. Obediently he obliged, the electric sparks of desire she saw in them were almost enough on their own to send her over the edge.
Leaning forwards he brushed his lips against her own, slowly deepening the kiss so that the intensity of it rivalled their own awakening passions.
Neither of them knew how or when it happened, but when the need for air meant they had to break the kiss, they found themselves naked and entwined on the cool, damp sand of the beach

Slowly, she forced herself to exhale and open her eyes, gaze falling as it always did on the ceiling above her.
"One day," she promised herself. "One day, you will know what it feels like to have his love. And that I promise you. One day, Darren Hayes' undying love will be yours."
